Love the site! Have used the forums extensively already to find out a lot of information but would love to have a discussion about the issues I'm facing. I have read a lot of the threads about the 690 issues but get lost with all the mumbo jumbo. I have a 2013 ktm duke 690 and love verything about it but the reliability.

Really impressed with the power, the seating postion and how it rode. Didnt get to test out handling due to very wet roads. Enjoyed the reassurance of ABS, TC and slipper cutch.

The 990 Duke was a fun very reliable bike. Power compares fairly well, I think the 790 is a better road handler though, and much lighter. My 990 weighed in at 460, where my 790 right now is at 413,but feels much lighter than the differences show. Ktm 790 Duke, BMW GS ,Aprilia Tuono. C.

The dealer said this is normal for the 790, at least it is known that more 790 engines have the same sound. Last week at the Zandvoort track (Duke is 2 years and 4 days old with 8400 km) in my second lap I heard a “poof“ sound and the engine went dead. The engine rotates when the starter button is applied but won’t start.

If either the left or right fuel cock is closed, fuel will not balance out between the two lobes of the tank. With the fuel pump on the left and the fuel level sensor on the right you get a full indicator on the dash (because the right side is full) and a pump sucking the left side dry. Both fuel cocks need to be closed to remove the tank.
